Catherine Jean Sewell 1931 - ante 2005
Catherine Jean Sewell , Cathy could always be counted on to support any and most charitable organizations, either by volunteering to work or lead events. This started with her Church and the International Order of the Daughters of the Empire (I.O.D.E), while being a mother to 1 then 2 then 3 children. Once school started for the little ones, she supported their respective schools with much gusto and enthusiasm (e.g. at Crescent was involved in Ladies Guild, Soccer supporter, substitute Librarian for 2 months). While living in Toronto, Cathy was very involved in Politics and attended the Leadership conventions for Federal and Provincial Leaders. She was very active in the Riding Association and spent most federal elections working in the committee room virtually full time. After moving to Port Hope, Cathy was President of the local Red Cross, and was instrumental in the purchase, set-up and running of a bus for elderly and incapacitated people. Cathy even found time to play bridge, golf, bowl and, at one time, even raised chickens. She loved to do hard crosswords.
