Hans VI von Massenbach c. 1589 - 1630
Hans VI von Massenbach , 4th son. 5th (6th) Baron Massenbach in the H.R. Empire, etc. (co-succ.1609 with his brothers "Georg V.", "Heinrich V.", "Kaspar II.", and "Christof Wilhelm II". His father "Wilhelm V.", subs. co-succ. ante/1630 his bros. "Kaspar II.", and 1630 his bros. "Christof Wilhelm II."), and 15th Feudal Co-Lord (1/4th) of Massenbach, etc., of Massenbach (1630 ravaged by "30 Years' War"), in the service of the Pr. Elector Palatine, etc. The Founding Ancestor of the so-called "South German Catholic Branch" of the Massenbach Family otherwise referred to as the FAMILY "GEMMINGEN von MASSENBACH", he was succ. acc. to primogeniture by his son "Hans Christof II. (1620-ante/1652)". Gentleman of the Bedchamber (1601) at the court of the Elector Palatine. He was living in Massenbach from 1602 which he treated as his own to the detriment of the other 7/8 owners. It seems that in July 1615, Christof Wilhelm, hans' brother went to the sestate and himself harvested the crops. Hans retaliated first with "an axe" to the crops then to his brother C-W. The court cases continued for the next 15 years! Between 1622 and 1626, 70,000 troops (cf 30 Years' War) came to be quartered in the districtm which was devastating. In 1626, plague arrived.1627 saw wallenstein make Heilbroon the headquarters of his Imperial troops. In 1631, the Swedes came and garrisoneed Heilbronn and the surrounding area. In 1634 Massenbach was burned down and the population dispersed.
