Fowke, had a tutor, David Davies, who was the son of Fowke Davies of Henllan, Denigh, who was later rector of Barkham, Berks., and author of the compassionate "The Case of Labourers in Husbandry Stated and Considered", pub. 1795. Fowke Davies' father plus his great uncle, John who died in 1670, and his gguncle, Robert ffoulke all farmed at The Green, henllan, Denbigh. Arthur was an enthusiastic amateur musician.
