Arthur Fowke , had a tutor, David Davies, who was the son of Fowke Davies of Henllan, Denigh, who was later rector of Barkham, Berks., and author of the compassionate "The Case of Labourers in Husbandry Stated and Considered", pub. 1795. Fowke Davies' father plus his great uncle, John who died in 1670, and his gguncle, Robert ffoulke all farmed at The Green, henllan, Denbigh. Arthur was an enthusiastic amateur musician. Petitioned the Hon. the Court of Directors for Affairs of the Honble. the United Company of Merchants of England trading to the East Indies - to be appointed a writer at Fort St George - petition dated London 25 March 1774 (almost 18 years of age).
