William Giddings 1877 - 1945
William Giddings , of Cambridge. 1881 census - recorded as 3 years old. Farm labourer (1891). He seems to be listed on Orwell Roll of Honour and Service In the Great Wars 1914 -1918 which can be found in Orwell Parish Church - "Names of those who Served". He was badly shell shocked and spent some years before his death in Fulbourn Mental Hospital. Carpenter (1901). Doug says re: 1904 Cambridge Directory: 173, Giddings William Carpenter 7. Stone Street (Stone Terrace), "William Giddings was my Grandfather; my grandmother later lived at 5 Stone Terrace, Stone Street. I seem to recall that they rented two houses, I had thought no's 3 & 5 but perhaps it was 5 & 7." Carpenter and joiner (1911).
